Up the RIVER

...around year 2000 we need another wintertime fix to fill in when the waves went flat, and since it seemed like it always snowed here, why not start taking advantage of it. So we started snowshoeing. Snowshoeing lead to winter peakbagging, which quickly lead to dragging our snowboards up to ride down on the descents. Fun, but there was always a flat spot or valley that would impede our descent, and lead to multiple strapping and unstrapping of bindings.... Bummer after a while. The greatest frustration came when you saw a short but deep powdery slope hit a gully you knew you would have to climb out of to continue downhill What do you do? sit in the knee deep plus snow to strap up for 40 secs? Keep walking down? Mostly we did, but one time we just stood behind the bindings, and it WORKED. Snowskating became the new passion. Something happen yesterday that seemed funny. Due to the lousy winter, surfing has been picking up the local slack. (look at surfing giving back!)
