4/23 Mr. Vic Atsea
One good storm... paid off on the coast and in the mountains.. the Open ocean wasn't the call, but there's a few twists and turns that can filter this swell to perfection !

the Calm (and small) before the Storm
...Sunday AM the storm has begun, playful, small clean waves to start, followed by a downpour, their calling for 15' seas by Monday with buckets of rain. Most sections will see rain, but some areas are gonna get dumped on with SNOW. ..hoping the snow section tracks into the mountains.. We'll see

Swallowtails
...on the powderstick you can feel the flex of the pin on the heel edge, almost like a skeg in manky snow

The notch socked in the clouds
Last week, there was a decent (surprise) snowstorm that settled in up high...2 maybe 3 feet worth, but it may not be over! Today the surf forecast has Spiked up for early next week, which is in lock step with a late season deep snowfall forecast! (the word historic is already being tossed around) . Fingers are crossed here, someone is gonna get some magic conditions

Tuesday's night storm
Was pretty tracked up by the time we arrived wens night. But Aaron gave the report that the top of lifts received 2+ feet of fresh snow, by Thursday morning it was beautiful but super dense heavy snow. Not knowing what to expect in the bone dry parking lot, a Powdersurfboard and a bi-deck we're buckled in for the hike up (the resort has closed for season) ....half way up the snow was getting deep, so the 109cm bi-deck was ditched on the trail like an old bike, and the surfer was going to make the descent. The last third was super deep and dense, not exactly dry powder, looking around and finding the line to drop in from was so much like surfing I might as well been lying down on my stomach.. The board eased into speed and hovered on top of the thick snow and dipped down on command, the turns came without thought, and not another rider around until the parking lot..

(ever catch a big old wave at a foriegn break just a hair earlier then normal, and feeling so locked in, you go from scared to Laird? Powder surfing is like that)
