the forecast calls for snow tonight...13-18" ...might be a good powderstick type day....
....here's a photo of Kriss and his son...first time I met Kriss was in Puerto Rico, he was wearing a business suit and driving a rented mini-van, inside the van was the largest boardbag I had ever seen...oh no he's a logger I'm thinking, he was a longboarder, and an egg rider, ....this was over ten years ago when everyone was riding little thrusters....i wasn't prepared to surf longboard like waves the whole trip......but as usual I was way off base with my first impression, Kriss could surf!! he surfed like the way you thought you did, until you actual saw yourself surfing on home video... I always thought that the big move, or the air, or the killer turn was all that matter...Kriss proved that wrong, his clean style exposed the fact that turns look like shit if you enter them all herky jerky...smooth surfing between point A and B translated to good looking surfing.....one thing I learned watching him was style really does count for everything....
as we got out of the water he kept bumping into people he knew, and they were calling him by a nickname, shit I thought, this dude's a ringer...later that night I asked what the nickname meant... he said it was short for a local beach he surfed daily as a grom....the dude is named after a friggen surf beach....you can always tell the kids who grew on the beach, there style is sweeter...I grew up in the woods twenty minutes from a rinky-dink ski resort....I battle with style every session...so stoked Kriss will be riding this powderboard wherever heads this winter ...I'm sure his son will be shredding on whatever he chooses to ride too...

NYC SNOWFEST= FUN
LOTS of laughs, lots of smiles, lots of newly stoked snowskaters, it was great day in the big city, I'm glad I made the trek, even though the natural snow didn't show up, (20 minutes further south got 6" of snow, still shaking my head on that) and even though, they didn't blow snow on an actual hillside, the groms didn't care they had a blast on the array of snowskates...it was really great meeting a bunch of different people all with very positive comments on the idea of snowskating..
met the director of the event, very nice guy and even spoke about incorporating snowskating into the rail demo next year... huge thanks to SWS and his family for helping out, and keeping an eye out on all the decks... hahaha

NYC winter jam 2010
...recieved a text a couple days ago from my friend SWS about the NYC winter jam festival tomorrow in central park...its a day for people to go to the park and demo xc skiis, snowshoeing and snowboarding... they have a rail demo set-up, and they have been blowing snow all week. I'm gonna try and go and bring a bunch of snowskates so people can demo them... I emailed the director but never heard back,(big shock) so what the heck I'll go and try to weasel my way in, manhattan is only a couple of hours away...
manhattan is on the crux of a storm saturday, it should pick up about 5" of natural snow, with the potential of recieving a foot and a half if the storm jogs only 70 miles further north then expected... gonna try and make it, email If you like to meet for a demo...decembersnowskates@gmail.com

filed under: No Way
Sean sent this pic in the other day, its a shot of his personal snowgun.....after receiving pictures of him robbing ice rinks of their zambonie shavings' to skate back in october, i knew he was serious about snow...... seany team has his own snowmaker...crazy...nicely done sean......ps i want one..
.

here's two shots of his team deck after the sintered base has been applied, just needs to be trimmed, sanded, sealed, and gripped.

Lastly, here's a package I've been waiting on forever..... It's four way stretch polartec fleece. This fleece will be divided up and sewn into snowskate board socks....a board sock is a low maintence bag that you slide your skate into and drawstring close...designed to protect your skate, and keep your car or truck clean after a snowy wet session ...so soft and comfy feeling

couple from the shop
Nick was looking to use a small narrow snowboard he obtain from his basement as a powdersub ...he didn't want to mess with the ingretity of the board so he drew up some plans using the existing hole pattern, here's a shot of the plans about to be cutout of a piece of 1/4" thick arcylic (not the strongest stuff, but the scrap fit)...it will be drilled to match a set of trucks of his choice... I can't wait to mail these plates out to him, his backyard looks so perfect to snowskate, and his current ride can't really take advantage of that epic terrain..his lastest deck and this old nidecker sub will be perfect.....the rush is on, time is of the essence..

39" x 9ish ....7.5 plys of maple, four channelled single deck, currently with sidecut (not sure if thats gonna stay) and a hint of camber... it feels real light, next step applying the sintered base under some heavy pressure...
If things go according to plan the first december sintered based wood sandwich powdersurfskate will be rushed out tomorrow, and landing in the correct hands just in time to head back on the road for a deep snow excursion this weekend....
thanks for checking in
