quick story to go along with the first pic (farmer jason).
ReplyDeletedecember snowskates and i surf this fairly off the map spot as much as we can. its a pretty long hike in and there is no way to check it, so it requires some faith. we have never even seen someone else paddle out at this place. its even named after one of our dogs (think mavericks). so on this day we were surfing fun waves all by ourselves as usual, when out of nowhere 3 girls with longboards appear. we were pretty suprised to say the least. even more so when they paddled past and sat 50 yards out from us. we looked at each other like wtf? they proceded to just tear the waves apart. taking set waves, splitting the peak, making hairy drops (backside!!). they totally outsurfed us. meanwhile we had to somehow paddle out to where they were sitting since we were obviously in the wrong spot. while we were gathering the nerve, one of them paddles past me after getting an absolute stellar wave and says "if you want you can borrow my longboard to catch a few". hahaha good times.....
haha, well said... felt like a grown-up in the kiddie pool who didn't realize the adult pool was just a couple of feet away... that spots' always good for a story...(i blame the tide...)
