and it will mostly cause havoc at this contest which is being held thursday and friday (unfortunately the storms inland track might not offer up the classic waves normally associated with type of weather maker... which is a real bummer)
This competition will require riders to ride 12 pound, single fin leashless boards. It is geared to represent real longboarding!

Snow and waves might be fickle at times, but the clams are always fresh and free!!! ...notice the leaves are changing colors !

Today, the swell figured itself out and the points were perfect, in-between sessions we stopped by this old cement park, and saw one lone grommet just ripping with the Smoothest style....

I have only seen this once before.... from the end of the block, you could see the mist of the crashing waves plume above the dunes and houses on the barrier island 1.5 miles away ..... I think marine forecast was calling for 12-18' seas today.....felt like a winter storm minus the school closings and a foot or two of snow ...

after a couple of years of blogging and viewing tons of other blogs, this is the best thing I have discovered (it is from korduroy.tv but I ran across early pictures on the hydrodynamica blog, both incredible sites). The surfing in this video represents the thrill I've been searching for my whole life when it comes to sideway stance sports...its the classic "lunch tray" ride down the snow bank to the umpteenth level....the surfing makes me smile everytime, and it explains to me why I gave up snowboarding for snowskating....the board being ridden is a straight chunk of foam, no rocker, no glass, no rails, no fins, no lams, just good old fashion float and excuse-less surfing...congrats to all involved!!!
