...made in same tradition as a skateboard deck, 7 ply hard rock maple, sorted, pressed, sanded, tack clothed, sealed, and silkscreened by hand. Gaute's deck (pictured) has a few steps to go. Another run of 10 decks should be ready to go by next week, these will be pressed by a friend of December, but shaped,sealed, and screened in house. Highest quality stuff, 4 are taken, 6 available. Today 12/28/ yesterday 12/27

..by the end of our session yesterday the conditions on the hill were deteriorating rapidly. Here's a shot of Jeremy still stoked as he assesses the conditions, on a bright side, he knew the bad news was causing good news on the surf front. Only separated by a couple of hours and 150 miles. Jeremy is still stoked on the conditions, 1maybe 2 times overhead, and chugging down the point. Nice Tuesday Wednesday combo!

Standing Room Only

We got lucky and rode Some real soft carvable man made stuff yesterday. Another touch of class was their basket lift. Which is a standing lift that holds 8 people as they walk on with their gear. No dirty looks from lifties no foot traffic, no walking around looking for a high point to buckle up at... just Drop and go

Today (around 8:30 am) wasn't a big gift more like a stocking stuffer, but we'll take it. Funky tall a-frames collapsing into longish super groomed lefts!

Graphics: December 'dude' snowfall

The fish tail represents the surfy feel snowskating has, and the little guy was suppose to look like snow falling. It came out better then expected, so no one in our graphics' department is losing their jobs..

Foam and Function

...just wanted to pass along some xmas gift ideas for any sideway stance enthusiast. Here's two from my favorite online surf shop: Foam and Function. First up there's the 'Jay Boy' book, which is a photo story about the legendary skater Jay Adams (dogtown) from his youth. Kirk at Foam and Function has a batch of them for sale, (among other great books) ready to ship. Secondly, he has a handshaped 6'3" Mackie singlefin for sale. Which I hope sells soon before I start collecting cans to cover the sticker price. It's a board I've been dreaming about for winter point surf. I believe a single fin 'performance board' takes the brains out of the equation which frees more space for thoughts about how much fun your having. Check it all out here.

Kendra runs a great new blog about snowskating, in which she has personally taken on the responsibility of promoting the sport. It's always worth a daily glance.

early in the season she talked about how she got involved in skating, something rang very similar to me (and most snowskaters) And if your on the fence about getting on a skate this season take a read :

I fell in love with snowskating a little more than a year ago. At the time, I had been snowboarding for boocoo years. I'd ride every single day that I wasn't working. But, my whole heart wasn't in it anymore. I'd get up to the mountain, ride a few hours, and then leave after I hit my favorite runs a couple times. Although I loved snowboarding, I was bored with it.

I didn't even know what a snowskate was the first time it was mentioned to me. But the first time I saw one, I was fixated. All the implications of a "snow-skate" and what it meant to my understanding of riding snow started to come together.

I learned to snowskate in Pat Bonser's back yard, which is kind of like learning to skateboard at Tony Hawk's ramp. I was so pumped that I actually ran back up the hill after each drop in. I couldn't get enough of it.

In the 2010/11 season, I snowskated more than I snowboarded. I was euphoric, I wanted to snowskate all the resorts and backcountry that I had previously only experienced within the confines of my snowboard bindings.

I started with Heavenly Mountain, which is my home mountain. When I snowskate Heavenly, I ride from first chair until they don't let me on again. There is so much to explore, so many different features, and any terrain you could ask for; it is a snowskating paradise. There are no restrictions on where you can take your snowskate, so whether you want to ride Motts or Killebrew, High Roller or Groove, as long as it's open, snowskates are welcome.

You'd have to live under a rock these days not to know Ireland gets heaps of swell.. Surfer/skater Oliver and his crew will be shredding snow this winter in his neck of the woods..

109cm december

......a couple summers back I joked with Bryce about pressing a few prototype subs, he quickly texted back, "leave the ski building to the experts," haha...

so here we are

Our first run of 109cm December snowskate subs, based off the now lengendary Boyd Hill 109 cm. Not one to reinvent the wheel, we went with what works. Really blown away by the craftsmanship of these puppies. Four of them are taken, however there is one available- if you wanna skate on a December this season drop us an email, Or contact boydhill directly for a custom. Thanks to Bryce for quickly making a four year dream a reality, TJ for the craftsmanship, and Matt for persuading us to pull trigger on tagging some subs.
