nick's shots from ZERMATT...Switz.

enlarge this picture, there are huts in the rock.... severe clear matterhorn......

check the matterhorn in the goggle reflection

i don't believe this is a snowskate, but regardless chill conditions and chill style

Ah! a december foamie ...

life is good...need a plane ticket

Nick said he had a 270 degree view of the valley from this grilling spot..(route montana)..and rode like crazy at Klein Matterhorn, which I think is the highest ski resort in the alps, on a clear day you can see 130 miles from the peak, which over looks the real Matterhorn ?...so sick..
the photos are awesome Nick..thank you
.
Happy St. Pats to everyone....

snuck in alittle time to ride... even bummed a few on kriss's new ride

a great place to start..love this spot

....imagine living in a two story glass houseboat with a mountain in the backyard that picks up lake effect snow....and an icy cobblestone pointbreak in your front yard that peels right for two hundred yards? (might have to click to enlarge houseboat picture ) ps this houseboat had neither

the snow was plenty deep.... but alittle to wet for epic powdersurfing, but it was fun, I figured out why riding powder on a snowskate feels more like surfing then riding powder on a snowboard, ....ans.... its' all about having your feet free, even though some runs I didn't move my feet at all, just knowing I could makes it feel like surfing...really amazing

breaking thru the surface and postholing worked the both of us,
I packed a pair of snowshoes, ...should have used them...
....when I got to the commerical ski resort it was closed until 4 pm...so i went around the corner to the next ski area and got shut out...almost blew my lid at the dude behind the counter who said he was snoskater and he wasn't even allowed to ride the mountain.... but I walked out, got in my car, and called him back from the parking lot...the phone conversation kept it cool, but he stuck to his guns, my last plea was, "this isn't a tiny old burton junkyard type, its a solid ride," his answer "I know, that was a sweet set-up you had"...haha I was over being angry... went back and re-ran the FPS on all powderstick runs .....it was a great day...

KG's "the 80's" powderstick 47.5" x 10.5"

Kriss's second powdersurfstick, this one is for the groms in his family, we decided to knock off all the dangerous corners that's on his powderfish model, so the board won't cause an issue on a wipe-out....
we came up with this version "the 80's" because the nose, tail and sidecut are all based on an old eighties skateboard i have....the sidecut matches the toyfish somewhat, which worked well...

.
board has been pressed and logo'd.... core and topsheet 100% rock hard maple, sandwich construction....
ptex waiting patiently in the bottom of the press..
coming out of the press for a second time laminated to the sintered ptex (fully waxable)
logo as seen thru the cloudy clear ptex

finished and fully gripped with hydroturf.... alongside another 52" rough cut blank
the rails :)

made for powder, but has some flat deck characteristics

super rugged, and grippy hydroturf decking

causal little kick in the tail, it can be ollied (with bump leash loop)

80's shape

classic kick in the skate nose

wood grain plays a role in the flexing of wood, it's a good role...

.
have you ever walked up to a familiar spot and the conditions are absolutely ideal, totally stellar......and you have the proper equipment with you? and surprisingly a feeling of confidence starts to build....that's what this board feels like under your arm....

thanks for checking in...
thanks Kriss

MOJO's december set-ups

*update* Feedback from MOJOslim:

hey Kev,
attached my chiller trucks to the December 40" last night. Here's some pics of the deck set up with my lib 48". They ride well together. Seems more, solid, I guess would be the word. Much more of a longboard feel. I wonder if its comparable to the GNUtoronto or GNUohio.

The concave came out nice. The kicks on this thing is awesome. I can really hug my foot up against them. Makes for so much leverage if I put my foot up high on it, just a small amount of pressure flexes the sub and focuses the weight to the center.

I also attached some truck bases to my 155cm Sawed Off Powdersub. Attached it to the newly setup December40" and boy does that thing float the powder. It was the inaugural run of that Powdersub, and I'm really suprised how it runs. Even powder with a slight incline is no problem. I rode stuff that my FPS125 would sink in.....

The December40" deck is a great addition to my collection.
thanks again for such a great deal
-Zach

155 big powder sub handmade by Zach, from an old snowboard...go green...
here's his 40" december deck set-up on a 48" (?) libtech sub...this is the famous sub that got the ball rolling for magna-traction (serrated edges) and banana rocker aka reverse camber...i believe mike olson got the kinks out of this design on a snowskate before it was introduced to the snowboard world...

random news:
we have had a perfect swell running with offshore winds for a bunch of days now, not super big, but super fun...I shot a text to a old friend about the conditions at 6:30 this morning...he shot back a message that he was up at his ski house riding a toboggan at our "infamous hill"....he started to freak out that he was missing the waves....I told him at his age to give up the straps and start snowskating...his response was " No but I've seen @$$holes on the mountain with them, I just want to punch them out when I see them" hahaha, what a kook, my response "u lose"

then I rubbed in last night's surf session..
thanks zach for taking the time out to send your s'skate pics and feedback, greatly appreciated
